ECGHLI ACTIVITIES
The following family friendly events are set to co-inside with Sustainability Weeks 2007 and will be covered by adequate public liability insurance; notwithstanding, risk assessments will be undertaken as has been customary prior to events - to limit foreseen risks; and in accordance with the ECGHLI Health & Safety Policy.   This also complies with the Sustainability Weeks Events Criteria and serves to limit the liability of any Partners.   Any funds raised will go towards cost recovery of the activities.

Guess how many Sunflower seeds in the jar. Every Entry wins Russian Giant Seeds.

LUCKY DIG
An innovative way to assist in the digging of the Children’s Garden.   Potatoes will
have been buried in certain squares amongst the Garden.   Squares will have been
outlined on the morning of the event and have the same markings as the undug
squares.   Entry by donation.   Every digger wins his or her dig.  

PEACE GARDEN LAUNCH
Various Members will plant a tree or flower to remember loved ones.
(This doubles as an innovative way to establish the Bushway Peace Garden)

Bus Routes
Buses 128 and 150 run approximately every 15 minutes and stop outside the site. Buses 175, 173, 103 and 5 also stop a short walking distance away. These buses also run approximately every 15 minutes.

Nearest Tube Station
Dagenham Heathway (approximately 1½ miles away) on the District Line. If you would prefer to alight at a station that has a taxi rank facility we would recommend either Barking Station or Dagenham East Station (both on the District Line) as unlike Dagenham Heathway these stations have taxi facilities outside.

Nearest Rail Station
Chadwell Heath Train Station (approximately 1 mile away) mainline railway running to and from London Liverpool Street.

By Road
Junction 4 off of the M11.

From the A12 (Eastern Avenue) you will need to turn right (if travelling from London) or left (if travelling London bound) onto the A1112 (Whalebone Lane North). Continue straight ahead and cross the first set of traffic lights onto Whalebone Lane South (still the A1112).
Continue straight ahead and at the main traffic lights you will need to turn right onto Green Lane (A1083). You should be able to see the school premises on your right hand side as soon as you turn into Green Lane. Tenterden Road is a little way along on your right.

Nearest Transport Linked Roads are Wood Lane and Valence Avenue.

Transport Link to Wood Lane:
• British Railway to Goodmayes then Bus no. 364 to second bus stop on Wood Lane…same side of road…one minute walk...enter Bushgrove Road then first left into Groveway.
• British Railway to Chadwell Hth. then Bus no. 62…get off at bus stop nearest to Wood Lane…Cross over the road…one
• minute walk… straight across into Groveway.
• Bus Nos.   5 or 145 from Barking to bus stop near Wood Lane…same side of road…one minute walk...enter Bushgrove Road then first left into Groveway.
Transport Link to Valence Avenue:
• Bus no. 62 From Becontree station…get off at bus stop nearest to Wood Lane…Same side as bus stop…one minute walk through the gap into Groveway.

IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY FOR ACTIVITIES @ BUSHWAY ALLOTMENT SUNDAY 10th June 2007
AS GOVERNED BY THE ECGHLI COMMITTEE

8:00 am
Session will begin with further Risk Assessments followed by re-briefing to Supervisors and Volunteers.  

Supervisors include First Aiders who have passed Enhanced Police Checks.   They will be identifiable by Yellow High Visibility Vests.  

Registration & BHAA Day Membership Fee Collection/ Event Participation Vouchers will be issued by:
Tokunbo Durosinmi &   Elizabeth Lojede

Families will be Supervised and Mentored by:
Qualified Childminders - Gennifer Joseph and Carer – Olayinka Bukola

8:30 am
Marking out of Lucky Dig Squares and hiding of potatoes.

11:00am
Official opening.

Registrations of Attendees wherein reminders of the relevant membership information, caution and rules; including ground rules (e.g. no running, no shouting, no trespassing, no allowing children to wander off and reminders to keep children in care under control) would be given.   All attendees will be accepting adherence as part of registration.   Registered attendees would be introduced to the responsible supervisors and First Aiders.   Family registration data will include No. of children in the adult care.

11:30pm – 6pm
Participants will be asked to sign to granting or declining permission to be recorded for ECGHLI Publicity & Promotion Purposes.   A colour coded ribbon will be given to those who decline; features of persons bearing the code will be cut from the final edits.
